I think you are correct in identifying populism as the focus of MAGA, rather than conservatism or republican (as in the wrongly named Republican Party.) The U.S. used to be a republic, but hardly anyone understands what a republic is anymore, certainly not the Republican Party hierarchy. If Trump is not able to clean out the RINOs from the party, I hope he will take the lead in leaving the party behind and starting a new party, or merging with the Constitution Party.
However the Republican party, as an apparatus, over time has been infiltrated by RINOs.
The goal of MAGA has been to do the same thing in reverse by having America First representatives to infiltrate and takeover the Republican party the same way the RINOs have managed to take it over.
This infiltration by MAGA can certainly be helped by Trump, BUT at the end of the day it's up to us as informed citizens to be fully engaged in this fight and to do so far beyond Trump's presidency.
This is why alternative media such as this platform here on Substack is so important.
You and I are the media now and as long as we can continue to grow in support from the citizenry over time this decentralized flow of information will literally transform not only the Republican party, but the country and world at large.
