I'm a boomer so I can't speak for Gen X, but it could be a reaction to us boomers. The society was so much more cohesive. We expected life to be good and stable. We had the expectation that life would get better and better. We didn't see what was coming. A lot slipped by us.
Yes, I have noticed a lot of that in recent years in a way that I never noticed before.
However, as a part of GenX I've always felt like something big was looming out over the horizon and that it would present itself during my Generation's lifetime which is what I talked about here.
We are living in a Fourth Turning in history and a big part of the insanity that is associated with the rise of this Fourth Turning has to do with a lot of things that the Boomers missed, along with several other Generations.
