“It used to be that you would go home at the end of the day, most people would go, ‘Oh, 'Cheers' is on,” he told the publication. “‘Oh, 'M.A.S.H.' is on, oh, 'Mary Tyler Moore' is on. ... You just expected, there’ll be some funny stuff we can watch on TV tonight. Well, guess what? Where is it? This is the result of the extreme left and PC crap, and people worrying so much about offending other people."
–Jerry Seinfeld
In the past couple of months I’ve noticed a steady increase in the number of people with some social clout speaking up and speaking out a lot more against the Censorship Industrial Complex in a way I’ve never seen before.
I’ve personally experienced how destructive the politically correct (PC) culture is as it’s steadily grown more and more over the past 16 years. If you’re quick to do the math that basically dates back to when Barack Obama came into office, but I digress.
In my own personal journey of noticing this it has involved my YouTube channel being canceled, my Facebook page being restricted multiple times, and having been locked out of my X (formerly Twitter) account til this very day. Censorship is, and has been, a real big problem here in the United States and it’s been brought on more and more by the acceptance of political correctness and people’s willingness to not speak up or speak out about what they want.
So you’re probably thinking Brandon, so what’s new? Why are you talking about censorship again because most everyone knows we have a censorship problem.
If you say that most everyone who is intellectually honest realizes we have a censorship problem I would agree with you, but that isn’t what I’m talking about here. Recognizing we have a censorship problem isn’t the sole point of this article.
The point is that we can BOTH agree that we have a censorship problem in the United States, but recognizing that the censorship problem exists is also admitting that our very acceptance of it exists which to me is an even bigger problem. After all, if society at large wasn’t accepting of the censorship problems that have plagued our society for the last several years then I’d have no reason to be writing this very article.
You see everything wrong in the world exists solely because we collectively choose to allow it due to the fact that we think, or believe that we are faced with no other options, or no better options. This is the fallacy because there are always other options and better options, but it’s up to us to enforce the adherence to adopting those best options and that process is a fluid process that’s always changing. Remember that in life whether you’re winning the fight, or losing the fight the fight never ends.
The Second Thought
For instance, X (formerly Twitter) was once probably seen as the best option for being the internet’s version of the proverbial town square as Elon Musk likes to put it. However, over time it became infiltrated by the federal government, more specifically the FBI, along with a supporting cast of communists that turned it into a huge censored platform.
By this time the platform was run by communists who would determine who would have a voice on the platform and who wouldn’t. This isn’t even up for debate as the journalist Matt Taibbi uncovered when Elon Musk released the infamous Twitter files once he purchased the company…I mean crime scene.
I think you get the idea of what I’m talking about here, but the problem is that once this happened, however it happened, to Twitter the damage was done not only to the platform itself, but to society at large.
Look, I understand the problem with using social media as a proxy for real life, but as far as accurate news this can at times be done.
Once again, using X as an example before Musk purchased the crime scene and before most anyone knew it was a crime scene as an example you might have had a first amendment loving citizen to use their then Twitter profile to post some kind of pro-Trump tweet. In this case that tweet very well may have been allowed to be published to the platform, but that person most likely may have been met with an overwhelming force of personal attacks from the unhinged left and an army of bots that would cause our friend to think twice about their attempt to ever post again.
Because of that “second thought” our first amendment loving friend in this case would either end up choosing not to post to the platform again, or would exit the platform altogether. Would everyone in the same position as our first amendment loving friend react in the same way? No, but several did because the flood back into the platform that occurred with active users and people after Musk purchased it significantly increased and this included myself…until I ended up getting locked out of my X account.
I remember it was back in December that I had awakened to a message from X that a new email address change was being requested for my account. As I logged in I was redirected towards a window where the new address was already attached to my X account that I never requested. Perhaps I was hacked, but I appealed this to X multiple times with multiple responses linking me back to the same useless page telling me to repeat the same useless step to get access to my account which never happened.
I may have been going about this the wrong way, but the point is that I am also busy running a business, I’m busy with writing, busy with podcasting, busy with life, and fighting for access to my X account that we know is still realistically a crime scene has sadly been placed a bit lower down on the priority list. Let’s also realize that the list of priorities in this modern era of censorship keeps expanding. I’m currently a one man army on the operation of my social media, writing, and podcasting front so it’s just the reality of the situation, but nonetheless it’s still a very real problem.
Regardless of my own personal experience it all began with my example of our first amendment loving friend having had that second thought to not post on a mass censored platform. Because of society’s problem of accepting it as something that just happened to someone else instead of happening to them we can conclude that what’s out of sight is also out of mind. This is why we’re where we’re at in the current expansion of the dystopian degradation of our individuality.
Newton’s Third Law of Motion
Isaac Newton’s third law of motion states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. I’ve always been drawn to this phrase from Newton’s law whenever I’ve heard it throughout my life because I believe this applies to every situation. After all, it’s physical law.
On that note this is why speaking out from big names like Jerry Seinfeld is so important for calling out the dangers of political correctness. With more recognized names such as Seinfeld going on offense and calling out the absurdity and evil of censorship it serves as a big help in raising the awareness of society at large to join in on doing the same thing. Hence, this is the equal and opposite reaction towards what has been building from the censorship industrial complex that has been occurring against all of us more heavily now for the last 16 years.
Wait a second did I just say Seinfeld was calling out the censorship? Did I mean to say he was calling out political correctness? Well the truth is that both are one in the same.
You see censorship can both be thrust upon you from an outside entity, as well as, you choosing to censor yourself like the example I used with our first amendment loving Twitter friend in my earlier hypothetical example. Neither method is good and results in the degradation of all of us as individuals.
After all, what is the single most important thing that defines all of us as individuals?
Without question that thing would have to be our own individual thoughts and by extension the use of each of our voices to express those thoughts.
If that single identifying quality is removed from our society then what kind of society do we have? I’d argue we wouldn’t have a society at all.
The Wrap Up
Over the past several years in every industry from my line of work being in the fitness industry, to movies, TV, professional sports, blogs, major social media platforms, etc. all have steadily degraded into being these very kind of vanilla cookie cutter entities that all look and act the same.
The concept of individuality and the ultimate identifying marker of the individual voice has been removed from every single one of these institutions because our society has tolerated and been accepting of the political correctness that promotes the silencing of your individual thoughts and with it the voices that follow.
In my view I believe now more than ever it’s vital that we support other people, platforms, and businesses that aim to promote and restore the individual thought and voice that resides inside all of us, or most all of us.
This was one of the major reasons I decided to start my own Substack and if you like what I’m talking about I hope you will express your support by giving this article a share, a like, a comment, or by signing up to become a subscriber.
If you join the platform to do the same I’ll reciprocate not to be kind or polite, but because it’s an action towards supporting an absolute necessity for us to continue to express our thoughts and voices.
I hope you enjoyed today’s article.
If so I hope you would choose to support this platform as part of the patriot economy as well. Be an Emissary of Freedom and help to push this piece out to your friends, family, and coworkers.
